Police Arrest Three Suspects in Mvuma Robbery and Rape Cases

Police caught three men who robbed folks and raped women around Mvuma last fall. These arrests solved many crimes that happened at Central Estates and Moffat Business Centre. According to Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko from Midlands police, they nabbed Edward Nhokwara (20), Devine Nyasha Gapu (19), and Emmanuel Mavhundutse (22) for these attacks.

Back in October 2024, bad guys scared everyone who lived or ran shops in these areas. They showed up during dark hours waving an axe, forcing people to hand over money and stuff. These same criminals also sexually assaulted female victims after stealing their belongings. The police started hunting these crooks after nine separate attacks were reported.

Everything broke open on February 27 when Gapu and Mavhundutse hitched a ride on a big truck heading from Chivhu toward Mvuma. As they jumped off, Gapu grabbed the driver's wallet, which contained $290 US dollars, 400 South African rand, and personal ID cards. Both men raced into bushes nearby, trying to escape.

Police tracked down Gapu and Mavhundutse in Chivhu through careful detective work. During questioning, these two guys mentioned Nhokwara, leading cops straight to him next. Further investigation connected all three men to those nine horrible rape and robbery cases. The gang had taken items valued at $1,095, though cops managed to recover $271 worth of stolen goods.

The courts have already sentenced both Gapu and Mavhundutse to twenty years behind bars. Nhokwara remains locked up, waiting for the judge to decide his punishment. These arrests brought relief to community members who feared going about their normal activities during evening hours for months.
