Police officers are hunting down troublemakers who attacked a government minister's car with rocks. The attackers smashed the windows of Finance Minister Henry Musasizi's vehicle on Thursday evening around 6:40 pm. The incident happened at Hakashanje Playground in Nyakahanga village right after Musasizi finished speaking at a campaign event. Angry people threw stones at the minister's convoy as he tried to leave the area. Security guards had to fire warning shots into the air to scatter the hostile crowd.
Musasizi serves as the current Member of Parliament for Rubanda East and wants to win a fourth term in office. He spent the day campaigning with district chairman Stephen Kasyaba who also seeks another term. Police spokesman Elly Maate confirmed that officers are investigating the attack as property damage.
