Politicians Keep Nigerians Poor for Votes

Former Niger State lawmaker Malik Madaki Bosso accuses politicians of keeping citizens poor for political control. The ex-legislator claims leaders create hunger and poverty to manipulate voters during election seasons. Politicians abandon people after winning office and ignore their daily struggles with basic needs. Bosso delivered this harsh criticism during his Sallah holiday message to residents across the state. He believes corrupt officials deliberately maintain suffering to secure future electoral victories.

Government revenues have doubled from 750 billion to over 1.4 trillion naira between federal and local administrations. Leaders share more money than ever before but citizens face worse poverty and security problems. Bosso questions how such massive funding increases fail to improve living conditions for ordinary people. Officials always claim they lack resources when citizens need help most. The increased budget allocations never reach communities that desperately need development projects and social services.

Politicians shower voters with cash gifts only during campaign periods before elections. These same leaders disappear immediately after taking office and forget all campaign promises made to communities. Bosso urges Nigerians to demand accountability from government officials at every level of administration. Citizens must resist manipulation tactics used against them during voting seasons. The former lawmaker specifically mentioned flood victims at Mokwa who still need emergency assistance from their representatives.
