Polokwane Airport waives fees for festive-season artists

Polokwane International Airport is waiving landing fees and other service charges for performing artists on private charters through early January. The Gateway Airport Authority Limited program requires proof of confirmed bookings in the region during the festive period to qualify. The incentive aims to attract high-profile acts to Limpopo, boosting cultural tourism and supporting the local creative economy.

Airport CEO Mokgadi Matli stated the move is intended to support artists and create a vibrant holiday atmosphere in the province. The offer applies to private or chartered jet travel, with applications assessed on a case-by-case basis. For performers, the waiver reduces the significant costs associated with private air travel, potentially allowing more investment in their productions.

The initiative positions Limpopo as an emerging destination for major events, leveraging its existing tourism appeal from game reserves and cultural sites. By lowering travel barriers for artists, the airport hopes to stimulate local business and provide residents with more live entertainment options.
