The celebration focused on bringing people together and building lasting peace. Officials from both nations gathered to honor this important milestone. Mozambique chose the event theme to highlight unity and growth over five decades.

The two African countries share strong friendship that began during their fight for independence. Freedom fighters from Zimbabwe joined Mozambican rebels against colonial rule. The shared struggle created bonds that continue today between the neighboring countries.

Several top government officials greeted Mnangagwa when he returned home. Vice President Kembo Mohadi led the welcome committee at the airport. Information Minister Jenfan Muswere joined other senior leaders to receive the president. State Security Minister Lovemore Matuke attended the homecoming ceremony. Military commanders and government workers also gathered to welcome their leader back from the diplomatic mission.
