Prison Guard Busted Snatching Neighbours Phones

Police arrested a prison guard for stealing phones from three neighbors at Harare Central Prison Camp on Monday. Clive Kahiya admitted he took the devices after entering their rooms through an unlocked door as they slept. He swiped a Samsung A02 phone from under Lovemore Chipinda's pillow, which had $100 in its case. The thief also grabbed two Samsung phones from Tawanda Mpofu that were charging at the time.

Harare police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said officers found all the stolen phones with Kahiya, who lives in a separate room from his victims. The total value of the stolen phones reached $890, with $740 worth recovered. Kahiya helped police find some of the stolen items after confessing to the crime. The prison officer stole from his fellow staff members who share the prison camp housing area. The theft happened during the night when the victims were asleep.
