Protesters storm the Bhanga police station and the UP office over seat boundaries

Monday witnessed destructive clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement at Bhanga Police Station during constituency boundary protests. Activists damaged the police facility, an Upazila Parishad building, and the Officers' Club while authorities attempted to clear highway blockades. Officers retreated from their stations as protesters gained control of the area and restricted media coverage. The confrontation occurred when police intervened to remove barricades from major transportation routes connecting Dhaka to Khulna and Barishal.

Thousands of demonstrators and political party members established roadblocks using burning tires and felled trees at 11am Monday morning. Highway Police Station chief Md Rokibuzzaman verified the widespread disruption across multiple locations. Law enforcement personnel worked throughout the afternoon to restore order and reopen blocked passages. The protests continued for a second consecutive day despite official warnings from government advisers. Home Adviser Lt Gen Jahangir Alam Chowdhury had previously threatened consequences for those disrupting public transportation and set Saturday evening as the deadline for ending demonstrations.
