PS Plus Purge Strips GTA V Resistance and More

Sony plans to remove more than 20 games from the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogs. Among these are first-party titles like Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which PS5 owners can only play through the PS Plus Premium Classic catalog. Infamous Second Son will also leave the service.

Popular games heading out include Grand Theft Auto V and Batman: Arkham Knight. Several indie favorites such as Ghostrunner and Enter the Gungeon are also leaving. These removals come shortly after PlayStation Plus price increases in over 20 countries across the world.

The departure of the Resistance games frustrates many longtime PlayStation fans. These games hold special meaning for players who remember when the series rivaled current PlayStation hits like Horizon and God of War in importance. Without a working PS3 and game copies, players will have no legal way to experience these games once they leave the service.

This situation raises questions about the value of PlayStation's subscription tiers. The classics library represents a major selling point for the Premium tier. When first-party games vanish from the catalog, subscribers might wonder what exactly they pay for each month.

Games regularly join and leave subscription services. However, these particular removals feel especially disappointing given recent price hikes and the limited availability of classic PlayStation titles through official channels.
