PTI's Jamshed Dasti booted from NA-175 for fake degree

The Election Commission of Pakistan announced Thursday that voters will choose a new representative for NA-175 Muzaffargarh on September 10, 2025. The constituency became empty after authorities removed Jamshed Dasti from his position. Officials will publish a public notice on July 21, with candidates able to file their papers between July 23 and July 25. The commission will complete candidate screening by August 1 and hear appeals until August 5. Final candidate lists appear on August 13, with symbol allocation set for August 16.

A three-member panel headed by Nisar Ahmad Durrani stripped Dasti of his seat after finding he used a fraudulent intermediate certificate. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq brought the case forward against the politician. The tribunal determined that Dasti broke election laws and suggested prosecutors pursue criminal charges. PTI supported Dasti when he captured the seat in 2024 with 113,253 votes, defeating PPP candidate Irshad Ahmad Khan, who earned 71,997 votes, and PML-N representative Hammad Nawaz Khan, who gathered 47,350 votes.
