Thailand’s state-owned energy company PTTEP International will carry out offshore oil and natural gas exploration and drilling with Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) at Blocks M 5 and M 6 near Mottama. Operations will run from 1 November this year through 30 March 2027. Navigation warnings have been issued for ships within four kilometers of the drilling zones.
PTTEP also plans to install four new platforms and connect underwater pipelines at offshore Block M 9, also off the Mottama coast. The company and Myanmar’s Ministry of Energy will soon sign agreements to move forward with these new offshore projects. In addition, both sides will keep working together on exploration and drilling in the Yadana and Zawtika fields, where joint operations are already underway.
