Puffybeatz breaks all the rules, global hits get his touch

Producer Puffybeatz has been stacking credits across multiple genres by blending Afrobeats with R&B, trap, amapiano, and drill sounds for artists spanning different continents. His tag shows up on tracks like Tony Montana with Skepta and Portable, plus he handled three songs on the Praiz album that got a Headies nod for Best R&B.

The guy worked on the Recess EP for Joshua Baraka, which hit number one in Nigeria and Uganda right out the gate. His roster includes collabs with M.I. Abaga, Asake, Oxlade, Sarkodie, and a bunch of other names from Africa and beyond who needed someone to layer soul melodies over heavy percussion patterns.

He refuses to lock into one style and keeps mixing different sounds, like throwing trap drums into amapiano grooves or stacking R&B harmonies on top of Afro rhythms. The whole approach is helping push African music into a more global, genre-blending direction.
