Pulkovo Airport Police Raid Nets Ten Illegal Migrants

Police checked garbage dumps near Pulkovo Airport looking for people working without papers. Officers found ten foreigners breaking immigration rules at construction sites in the Lomonosovsky District. They took these people to the police station, where they faced legal punishment. Workers lived in simple barracks at these job sites. Police looked through documents from dozens of laborers during their sweep.

The operation also targeted vehicles around the work areas. Officers inspected more than a hundred cars during their checks. Many drivers received tickets for breaking traffic laws. Some people drove without seat belts or proper insurance. Others had cars with mechanical problems that made them unsafe.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ran this operation across St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The police focused on places where foreign workers often stay. Their goal was to find anyone living or working illegally in Russia. The officers carried out similar checks at other construction sites in recent months. These regular inspections help enforce immigration laws throughout the city.
