Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed lands in Kolkata mystery as Durga Puja film fever hits

Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed prepares to enter Tollywood cinema through her debut performance in the mystery film Joto Kando Kolkatatei. Director Anik Dutta completed principal photography during 2022 with initial plans targeting a 2024 theatrical release. Friends Communication production house shifted the premiere date to coincide with Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata theaters. The company released a motion poster on Friday to announce the revised schedule. Ahmed portrays a Bangladeshi woman who becomes involved in mysterious circumstances while investigating her family background.

The actress received an unexpected message from director Dutta leading to her successful audition for the project. Ahmed began filming during September 2023 after securing her role through the casting process. She expressed enthusiasm about joining the production team and described her experience as transformative. The performer plans to travel to Kolkata during the film's theatrical run. Ahmed emphasized her excitement about audiences finally experiencing the completed motion picture.

Joto Kando Kolkatatei draws inspiration from Satyajit Ray's beloved detective character Feluda through its narrative structure. Abir Chatterjee assumes the role of Topshe while embodying characteristics reminiscent of the famous sleuth. This connection to Ray's literary creation generates anticipation among devoted followers of Bengali detective fiction. Debjyoti Mishra composed the musical score for the production. Saptarshi Majumdar serves as executive producer while Paran Banerjee and Miska Sinha complete the principal cast in significant supporting roles.
