A Muslim community in Tamale has started its yearly event marking the Prophet Muhammad's birth. The Qudwah Muslim Community launched its 2025 Mawlid celebration, a week-long program focused on his life and teachings. Spiritual leader Sheikh Amin Muhammad Bamba instituted the gathering, which carries the theme Beyond Borders: The Panoptic Mercy of Prophet Muhammad.
The launch brought together the Northern Regional Chief Imam, traditional leaders, academics, and scholars from across Ghana. Opening the event, Sheikh Bamba detailed the Prophet's life and his lasting impact on humanity. He highlighted universal values like peace, mercy, and tolerance as vital tools for today's social issues. He also addressed divisions within the Muslim community about celebrating the birth, calling for greater unity and a focus on shared teachings over differing opinions.
Other speakers at the ceremony shared this message, encouraging tolerance and stronger community ties. The scheduled activities include Islamic teachings, scholarly lectures, and discussions on the Prophet's character. The week will end with special prayers and a symbolic commemoration of his birth.
