Rahul Gandhi's secret South America Navratri

The BJP criticized Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday for keeping his trip to South America under wraps while serving as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. BJP leader Tuhin Sinha questioned why Gandhi traveled abroad during Navratri instead of attending religious ceremonies at home. Opposition parties defended the Congress leader against what they called politically motivated attacks.

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi rejected claims that Gandhi went missing and said Congress confirmed his meetings with people across South America. Congress leader Rajesh Thakur contrasted Gandhi's student outreach with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign appearances. CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah dismissed the criticism as foolish and said Gandhi spent considerable time addressing Bihar issues.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera announced on Saturday that Gandhi would visit four South American countries to meet political leaders, students, and business representatives. The trip marks Gandhi's first overseas visit in September and aims to strengthen democratic ties among Global South nations. Gandhi plans to meet with presidents in Brazil and Colombia while exploring trade opportunities as India seeks alternatives to counter U.S. tariffs.
