BNP leader Tarique Rahman decided to help a famous soccer player whose mom has cancer. The player goes by the name Golden Girl because she plays soccer really well. Her real name is Ritu Porna Chakma and she made history when Bangladesh beat Myanmar 2-1 in a big match. This win helped Bangladesh qualify for the AFC Women's Asian Cup for the first time ever. Rahman lives in London but still wanted to help the family during their tough time.
BNP official Ruhul Kabir Rizvi went to visit the family on Wednesday. He traveled to a small village called Mogachhari in Rangamati district where Ritu Porna lives. Rizvi brought money from Rahman to help pay for the mother's cancer treatment. He promised the family that BNP would keep supporting them whenever they need help. Several other party members came along for the visit to show their support.
Ritu Porna has faced family tragedy before because her dad also had cancer. Her father died from the disease back in 2015 when she was younger. She keeps playing soccer to honor his memory and make him proud. The young woman studies Philosophy at Dhaka University when she's not playing soccer. She scored two goals against Myanmar and one against Turkmenistan in recent matches.
