The Petrobangla operations director launched gas distribution from the newly discovered layer of the Rashidpur Gas Field in Bahubal upazila yesterday evening. The ceremony featured Sylhet Gas Field managing director Abdul Jalil Pramanik and BAPEX managing director Fazlul Haque among attendees. Engineers expect the fresh discovery will contribute eight million cubic feet of gas per day to Bangladesh's national energy network. Current production from seven operational wells reaches 62 million cubic feet per day from the field's eleven total wells. Deputy general manager Sumon Bikash Das reported the enhanced capacity.
Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company initiated drilling operations on July 12th this year. The joint renovation project between BAPEX and Sylhet Gas Fields Limited required an investment of 73 crore taka. Workers discovered gas reserves on September 5th within the well's new geological formation. Experts estimate 25.55 billion cubic feet of extractable gas over the next decade. Condensate production will accompany natural gas as an additional petroleum byproduct.
