Real Madrid's defense shines ahead of Clasico

Real Madrid heads into the Clásico match with a strong defense. The team kept clean sheets in two straight games against Getafe and Juventus. In twelve matches across La Liga and the Champions League, it has not let in any goals in six of them.

Coach Xabi Alonso has built a tighter defense than last season. His side uses high pressing and quick play to keep rivals from reaching Courtois’s area. The goalkeeper made key saves in recent games, showing better form than in the 2019/2020 season, when he allowed 20 goals in 34 matches.

Real Madrid has given up only nine league goals this term, the fewest in the competition. Alaves has eight, while Osasuna, Athletic Bilbao, and Elche each have nine. Barcelona has ten. This sharp defensive record gives Madrid confidence ahead of the Clásico test.
