Rebecca Kadaga crushes rivals in Kamuli District NRM landslide

Rebecca Kadaga secured the National Resistance Movement nomination for Kamuli District Woman Member of Parliament after dominating Thursday's primary elections. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs captured 107,162 votes from party members. Her performance represented 91.8 percent of all ballots cast across the constituency. Deborah Mugerwa Mwesigwa finished second with 4,178 votes while Noet Nangobi earned 4,138 votes.

Kadaga serves as the ruling party's First National Vice Chairperson for women and ranks among Parliament's longest-serving members. She achieved perfect results at her Busobya polling station, where rivals received zero votes. The victory positions her firmly for the 2026 general elections despite opposition gains throughout the Busoga subregion during previous contests. Several prominent legislators from the area lost their primary battles, yet Kadaga's dominance remained unchallenged throughout the campaign period.
