Rivers State High Court judges set for annual vacation in July

Rivers State judges will take their yearly break starting Monday, July 21, 2025. Chief Judge Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi made this announcement through Chief Registrar David Ihua Maduenyi. The vacation follows the rules set out under Order 49, Rule 4 of the High Court of Rivers State Civil Procedure Rules from 2023. All court divisions across the state will shut down during this time. Regular court business will start again on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The Chief Registrar explained that people can still bring urgent cases during the break. Special vacation judges will handle these important matters when they come up. The Chief Judge will pick these vacation judges to cover any emergency situations. This system makes sure nobody gets stuck waiting for months if something really serious happens. The court wants to balance giving judges their needed rest period with serving the public properly.
