A small media company changes lives for young people in Plumtree. Roxtonic Media helps local youth build careers through hands-on training in photography and video. The company, led by Ronald Mpofu, worked at the Mandlenkosi Nkomo and Thandiwe Lina Chionera wedding last weekend. They captured the event with modern equipment at Plumtree School Pavilion Grounds.
Edson Ngwenya started making WhatsApp podcasts before joining Roxtonic as an assistant in 2023. He learned filming skills directly from Mpofu during company trips. Talent Sibindi recently became the second camera assistant at the growing business. Mpofu wants to showcase local talent rather than earn money. The company aims to help photographers, musicians, actors, and models from the area gain recognition.
Roxtonic began as a music studio in 2008 before expanding into a full media service in 2017. The team offers graphics and video production among other services. They plan to work at events in Gaborone and Masunga across the border in Botswana. Mpofu believes young people can share their stories with the world when given proper resources and training.
