Russell Nabs Surprise Pole Over Verstappen

George Russell claimed pole position for Mercedes at the Canadian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen starts second for Red Bull after losing out to Russell. Oscar Piastri leads the championship and starts third for McLaren. Kimi Antonelli secures fourth place for Mercedes as a rookie driver. Lewis Hamilton rounds out the top five from his Ferrari seat.

Fernando Alonso starts sixth for Aston Martin ahead of McLaren driver Lando Norris. Charles Leclerc takes eighth position for Ferrari. Williams drivers Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto complete the top ten spots. Alpine moved Franco Colapinto from their team to Williams for this race.

Yuki Tsunoda faces a difficult race from last place after receiving a penalty. The Red Bull driver received a ten-place grid drop for passing under red flags. Isack Hadjar starts twelfth after a three-place penalty for blocking another car. Racing Bulls handed penalties to both their drivers before the race.

Lance Stroll starts seventeenth for Aston Martin at his home race in Canada. Pierre Gasly and Liam Lawson both start from the pit lane after car changes. Alpine and Racing Bulls made setup changes after qualifying ended. The Canadian Grand Prix begins at 2 PM local time on Sunday.
