Ruto Drops Mercy Bomb on 57 Prisoners

Kenya's President William Ruto freed 57 prisoners on Monday from jails across the country. He made this choice after a mercy committee gave him advice. The office announced that Ruto showed kindness to 56 Kenyans and one person from another country.

Among those released, 31 prisoners who had life sentences can go free with certain rules. Officials will send the foreign prisoner back to their East African home country. Another 25 people left jail early because their sentences were cut short. Ruto also let out all small-time offenders with six months or less to serve.

Felix Koskei, the top government worker, said this helps make justice better through healing rather than just punishment. He stated the president wants everyone who works with criminals to find ways for them to make up for wrongs and return to normal life. The government will print all details about these releases in the next Kenya Gazette.
