Ruto Endorses Raila for AU Chair to Unite East Africa

President William Ruto has made it clear that Raila Odinga is more than just Kenya's pick to lead the African Union Commission (AUC). He says Raila is the choice of the whole East African region.

Ruto believes backing Raila is important for bringing the continent together. He thinks it will help Africa become more peaceful and successful.

"Raila is not only Kenya's candidate," Ruto explained. "He represents all of East Africa."

Before publicly supporting Raila, Ruto talked with other East African leaders, including Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. They all agreed Raila was the right person for the job.

Ruto pointed out that Raila has extensive experience as a leader in Africa and a vision that can unite people. Ruto is sure Raila can do great things as head of the African Union.

If chosen, Ruto thinks Raila will help end conflicts and create more peace in Africa. He also believes Raila will boost trade and investment through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

"We know that with Raila in charge, great things will happen for our continent," Ruto said with confidence.

Ugandan President Museveni also highly praised Raila. He called him a unifier who can bring people together to find answers. "Raila is able to work hard and come up with solutions," Museveni stated.

Raila is one of four candidates hoping to become the next AUC chairman. The others are Mohamoud Youssouf from Djibouti, Anil Gayan from Mauritius, and Richard Randriamandrato from Madagascar. They want to replace the current chairman, Moussa Faki of Chad. The election will take place in February.
