Kenya's President William Ruto went to Ethiopia with many important people from Kenya. They traveled there because African countries needed to pick a new leader for their big group called the African Union.
Kenya wanted Raila Odinga to become its new leader. He used to be Kenya's Prime Minister. Two other people also wanted this important job: Mahamoud Ali Youssouf from Djibouti and Richard Randriamandrato from Madagascar.
Many important Kenyan leaders came to support Raila Odinga. These included Musalia Mudavadi, who helps run Kenya's government, and Noordin Haji, who leads Kenya's secret service. Several governors from Kenya also came to show their support.
