Ruto Parastatal Shakeup Sees Big Swaps

President Ruto changed leaders at several government agencies through a Kenya Gazette notice. He moved Lily Ngok from Kenya Industrial Estates to chair the Information and Communications Technology Authority for three years. Sylvanus Maritim will take her old job heading the Kenya Industrial Estates board. Both appointments start May 16, 2025. These switches come after earlier changes when Ruto first became president.

Maritim brings strong experience as a telecommunications engineer who has worked on projects across Africa. Ruto first put him in charge of the ICT Authority back in February 2023. The president also named University of Nairobi professor Lawrence Gumbe to lead the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency for four years. This appointment also begins May 16, 2025. The president aims to improve how state agencies run through these leadership changes. Most people named to these posts will serve past the next election in 2027.
