President William Ruto went to the Port of Mombasa on Sunday morning. He visited a big, fancy cruise ship called the Norwegian Dawn, which had just arrived from Seychelles. The ship brought 2,220 tourists and 1,100 crew members to Kenya.

The Norwegian Dawn is the first cruise ship to come to Mombasa this year. It is very long, measuring 294 meters. People from 54 different countries came on the ship. They want to see Kenya's beautiful white sandy beaches and national parks.

President Ruto felt very proud to welcome the visitors. He said that Kenya is becoming a popular place for tourists to visit. He told everyone that 800 of the guests had already gone to Amboseli and were on a city tour. This shows how important tourism is for the country.

A few years ago, many cruise ships came to Kenya. Then, not as many came for a while. But last year, 6,500 visitors came on cruise ships. This year, they think even more will come. They expect eight more cruise ships to arrive in Mombasa.

The boss of the Kenya Ports Authority, Captain William Ruto, helped guide the big ship to a special place called Berth No. 1. He was very happy to see the ship arrive. He said that the Kenya Ports Authority wants to help more cruise ships come to the country.

President Ruto talked to the tourists on the ship, shaking their hands and taking selfies with them. The governor of Mombasa, Abdulswamad Nassir, came with him. The boss of the Kenya Ports Authority and the person in charge of tourism for the whole country also came.

The tourists who got off the ship on Sunday morning will have a lot of fun. They will go to see the pretty beaches and the animals in the wildlife parks. Captain Ruto said that the Kenya Ports Authority is working hard to make sure more cruise ships can come. They want the Port of Mombasa to be a big, important place for cruise ships from all over the world to visit.

Captain Ruto said, "This is just the beginning. We think more ships will come to the Port of Mombasa. I want to tell all the cruise lines that the port is safe. We are ready for more visitors."

The chairman, Benjamin Tayari, was happy about the ship's visit. He said it shows that Kenya is an important place for tourism in Africa. The person in charge of tourism, Rebecca Miano, said that this is the most tourists who have come to Kenya on one ship in the last 10 years. She said, "We are happy that cruise tourism is growing.
