Ruto wins CAF President’s Award for advancing African football

Kenya received continental recognition after CAF honored President William Ruto with the 2025 Outstanding Achievement Award for advancing soccer development across the nation and wider region. Ambassador Jessica Gakinya collected the prize during ceremonies in Rabat, while CAF President Patrice Motsepe praised East African leaders for strengthening football infrastructure.

Tanzania's Samia Suluhu Hassan and Uganda's Yoweri Museveni earned similar acknowledgment for supporting athletic programs. The three countries demonstrated organizational capacity through their joint hosting of the 2024 African Nations Championship, which showcased upgraded venues and operational improvements.

Nigeria's Super Falcons captured women's team honors at the event, with goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie earning individual distinction. Morocco's Achraf Hakimi claimed men's player recognition, while Ghana's Ghizlane Chebbak secured the women's equivalent. Kenya prepares to bid for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations following these achievements.
