Rwanda accuses Congo of hiring Blackwater mercenaries as tensions escalate

Rwanda points fingers at Congo for hiring foreign fighters from a controversial American company called Blackwater. The country's top diplomat made these claims during a big meeting in Texas with Rwandans living abroad. He said Congo brought in Colombian soldiers for hire after Romanian fighters got kicked out earlier this year. The diplomat accused Congo of breaking peace deals by bringing more weapons and attack drones into the fight.

President Paul Kagame fired back with tough words about defending his country. He warned that Rwanda could march 2000 kilometers to fight back if anyone attacks them. Kagame said his military would track down enemies anywhere they hide. The president made these comments after reports of drone strikes coming from Congo territory.

Blackwater became famous for all the wrong reasons during the Iraq War. The company's fighters killed 17 innocent people in Baghdad back in 2007. Many of their workers went to jail for the shooting. The company changed its name to Constellis but keeps working in war zones around Africa.

Congo first used Romanian mercenaries who later got defeated and had to escape through Rwanda's capital. The new Colombian fighters show that Congo wants to keep using private armies despite the risks. Rwanda says these moves break the peace deal both countries signed in Washington earlier this year. Officials warn that bringing in more foreign fighters could spark a much bigger war across the region.
