Sabah express bus chaos as reckless driver leaves five hurt in Ranau highway smash

A reckless bus driver plowed into three vehicles during a horrific chain reaction crash that left five people hospitalized. The 65-year-old maniac behind the wheel of a Scania express bus carrying 24 people made a deadly decision to overtake another vehicle on Ranau/Tamparuli Road around 10pm. Police say the speeding bus cut across double lanes before smashing into a Perodua Ativa driven by a 30-year-old man. The massive vehicle then slammed into the back of a Proton Saga before sending that car careening into a trailer truck ahead. Emergency crews rushed all victims to Ranau Hospital where doctors treated their injuries.

Superintendent Mursalin Mahmud revealed the bus was traveling from Kota Kinabalu to Semporna when disaster struck at Kilometer 15. Three bus passengers suffered serious harm alongside their driver and the 51-year-old man operating the Proton Saga. Amazingly, both the Ativa operator and truck driver walked away without a scratch from the devastating pile-up. Authorities plan to test the bus driver for alcohol and drugs after discovering he already faced three unpaid traffic violations. Fire department teams worked frantically to free trapped passengers from the wreckage.

Viral dashcam footage captured the same bus making dangerous moves earlier that evening near Kundasang Cabbage Roundabout. The recordings show the vehicle entering wrong lanes and nearly colliding with oncoming traffic before the fatal crash occurred. Police have launched a formal investigation under careless driving laws that could result in serious criminal charges against the operator.
