Sabalenka Stages Stunning Comeback to Reach Berlin Semis

Aryna Sabalenka pulled off an amazing comeback against Elena Rybakina at the Berlin Open tennis tournament. The world number one tennis player saved four match points during their Friday match. She lost the first set 7-6 but came back to win 3-6 and 7-6. Sabalenka was losing 6-2 during the final tiebreak but managed to win six points straight. This victory sends her to the semifinals for the eighth time this season.

Sabalenka admitted she had no idea how she managed to win those final points. She remembered winning similar matches when she first started playing tennis professionally. The player said she felt proud about fighting until the very last point of the match. She will face Marketa Vondrousova during the next round. Vondrousova defeated Ons Jabeur with scores of 6-4 and 6-1.

Other players also advanced to the semifinals on Friday. Liudmila Samsonova crushed Amanda Anisimova 6-1 and 6-1 during their match. She will play Wang Xinyu next after her opponent Paula Badosa had to quit their game.

Alexander Zverev felt sick during his match at the Halle Open but still beat Flavio Cobolli. The German player threw up between sets but recovered to win 6-4 and 7-6. He will face Daniil Medvedev during the semifinals. Alexander Bublik and Karen Khachanov will play each other for the other semifinal spot.
