Sables face tough Morocco test in Rugby Africa Cup opener

Coach Piet Benade smiled when he stepped off the plane at Kampala airport. The Zimbabwe rugby boss remembered his last trip to Uganda very well. His team had won big last time around at this same venue. The Sables landed on Saturday ready to fight for another Rugby Africa Cup title. Benade felt confident about bringing back most of the same players from their previous success.

Morocco waits for Zimbabwe at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium this morning at 9am. The North African squad brings serious muscle to every game they play. Many of their stars learned their tough style from French club teams. Captain Hilton Mudariki will earn his 54th cap for his country today. The experienced leader keeps his teammates calm before every major battle.

Matthew McNab flew from England just days before the tournament started. The speedy winger joined practice late Sunday night after a long flight. His teammates welcomed him back right away despite the short preparation time. McNab brings pace and finishing skills that worry opposing defenses. Zimbabwe coaches picked him for good reasons.

Everyone expects the Sables to win this whole tournament easily. Mudariki admits the pressure feels real but his squad trained hard for months. The team wants to reach the Rugby World Cup more than anything else. Morocco will try to slow down the game and frustrate Zimbabwe players. This quarter-final match could decide everything for southern African rugby dreams.
