Sad day as Zimbabwe comedy icon Marabha dies

Popular comedian Charles Mapalume, nicknamed 'Marabha,' died Saturday morning at a hospital. He had battled illness for several years before his condition worsened two weeks ago, leading to hospitalization. Tafadzwa Ben (Shugeta), a fellow performer, shared news of the loss, praising Marabha as a gifted artist who helped establish street theatre in Zimbabwe.

Fans expressed their grief across social media platforms after learning about his passing. Marabha became famous alongside colleagues Freddy Manjalima (Kapfupi) and the late Blessing Vingirai (Bonjisi) as they pioneered comedy performances in Zimbabwe. Their unique street performances attracted large audiences throughout the country.

The family will announce funeral arrangements later. Marabha leaves behind a legacy as one of Zimbabwe's entertainment trailblazers, captivated audiences with his talent. His contributions to Zimbabwean street theatre helped shape local comedy, and his distinctive performance style made him a household name among entertainment lovers.
