Salah hits 250th goal as Liverpool snap losing streak

Liverpool snapped a four-match winless run in the Premier League by defeating Aston Villa, with Mohamed Salah reaching a historic milestone by netting his 250th goal for the club. The 33-year-old forward capitalized when Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez mishandled a clearance during first-half stoppage time, allowing Salah to slot the ball into an empty net. Ryan Gravenberch, returning from a three-game absence due to an ankle problem, added a second goal in the 58th minute when his 20-yard attempt took a deflection off Pau Torres and beat Martinez.

Salah joined Ian Rush and Roger Hunt as the only Liverpool players to score 250 times across all competitions. Rush holds the club record with 346 goals, while Hunt finished with 285. Villa threatened early at Anfield when Morgan Rogers struck the post in the fifth minute with a curling shot from 20 yards out. Matty Cash later saw his deflected strike tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The victory moved Liverpool into third place but left them seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. Villa had been seeking a fifth straight win after dropping its opening five matches. Liverpool had not won in league play since beating Everton 2-1 on September 20.
