Salehuddin Ahmed vows Dhaka biotech blitz will secure future food

Finance and Technology Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed addressed biotechnology's essential role in agricultural advancement during North South University's third youth forum. The adviser credited genome scientists for Bangladesh's achievements in food self-sufficiency while advocating for increased educational and research investments. He stressed that biotechnology will enhance nutrition, resilience, and productivity within farming sectors through adaptive technologies. The forum brought together policymakers, academics, and representatives from international organizations to examine biotechnology solutions for global food security challenges. North South University hosted the event with partners OIC-COMSTECH and the Islamic Organization for Food Security.

Ambassador Khusrav Noziri from IOFS emphasized international cooperation for addressing collective food security challenges. Professor Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary highlighted the transformative impact of science on agriculture while empowering youth with the proper tools and opportunities. The two-day program features technical sessions with speakers from Turkey, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan. This platform facilitates knowledge sharing and international collaboration within the agricultural biotechnology fields. Academic institutions and international organizations work together toward establishing food-secure futures for the coming generations.
