Sammi Awuku endorses Bawumia for NPP 2028 leadership

Sammi Awuku from Akuapim North wants Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2028 elections. The MP appeared on Citi FM's Eyewitness News Thursday and praised the former Vice President's work during tough times. He thinks Bawumia handled the global pandemic and economic problems well when other countries struggled. Awuku believes the NPP has a strong chance to win back power with Bawumia as their candidate. He said the party faced many difficulties over the past four years but Bawumia stepped up when needed.

The lawmaker talked about Bawumia's good character and honest leadership style during the radio interview. He thinks these qualities make Bawumia the right person to guide the party forward after their 2024 election loss. Awuku's support helps build momentum for Bawumia as more party members choose sides before the January 2026 primary contest. The MP joins other politicians backing Bawumia's campaign for party leadership. His endorsement comes as NPP members debate which candidate can best help them return to government.
