Samsung Gears Up Massive US Chip Factory Spend

Samsung plans to announce a major investment in the United States soon, according to President Trump, who discussed trade deals with South Korea. The company aims to build manufacturing facilities in America because of potential tariffs on imported goods. Trump mentioned that Samsung wants to construct plants in the US to avoid these extra costs. This follows similar announcements from companies like Apple, TSMC, and SoftBank after Trump took office.

The Korean tech giant is already working on expanding operations in Austin and Texas with plans to create 10,000 jobs. Samsung runs a project in Taylor, Texas, expected to start making chips by late 2027, possibly producing advanced 2-nanometer processors that interest companies like NVIDIA. The firm also considers moving production of TVs and home appliances to American facilities, as noted in recent financial reports. Any official announcement will probably come after Trump finalizes trade policies with South Korea, possibly next week.
