Santhosh Narayanan plots India-based music coup

Acclaimed music director Santhosh Narayanan announced on Friday that he has started building an affordable music streaming platform based in India for global users. The composer shared his plans on social media, stating the service would feature established artists and emerging talent while prioritizing fair artist compensation and low subscription costs.

Narayanan, who ranks among Tamil cinema's leading composers, emphasized the platform would operate from India and host hackathon events to recruit young administrators. He recently scored music for Thalaivan Thalaivi and Retro. The director launched Rakitaa Entertainment in 2024, a company focused on supporting musicians and providing transparent ownership structures.

Narayanan moved to Chennai in 2004 and spent years struggling for opportunities before becoming a film composer. He created Rakitaa Entertainment to help deserving musicians avoid the lengthy waiting periods he endured, and the venture operates a studio for artists.
