Sanwo-Olu drags fuel scoopers for being totally reckless

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu went off on residents who grabbed leaking fuel from a flipped tanker at Liverpool Bridge in Apapa. He called the move reckless and stupid after people ignored every safety concern to scoop up gasoline from the overturned vehicle.

The governor said he was worried about how residents threw caution to the wind during the whole mess, and he warned that type of behavior could easily get people killed. He gave props to emergency crews and cops for jumping on the scene fast and locking everything down before things got worse.

Sanwo-Olu told residents to knock it off with the risky stunts, hammering home that staying alive matters way more than snagging free stuff.

He then switched gears to trash problems around the city. The governor ripped into people who keep dumping garbage on road medians wherever they feel like it. Stricter penalties are coming this year, and he told the Lagos Waste Management Authority to start grabbing violators to scare everyone else straight.

Sanwo-Olu also addressed the Makoko demolitions and explained that people living in buildings between 150 and 250 meters from high-tension power lines got evacuation warnings over two years ago.

He promised his administration would keep protecting lives and property. Displaced residents will get help through relief packages and assistance in finding new places to live. The governor doubled down that his government will do whatever it takes to keep Lagos residents safe.
