Islamic scholar Ali Temitope Abdulssalam from Ibadan told President Tinubu to figure out why bandits and kidnappers keep wrecking the country instead of letting criminals run wild. The cleric spoke at his Qur'an memorization institute graduation ceremony, attended by Professor Hamdalat Olaniyan and other Oyo State bigwigs, and he said tackling violence headfirst would actually get people trusting the government again.
Abdulssalam wants federal and state officials to pump cash into Islamic schools because teaching kids religious values supposedly creates patriotic leaders who avoid tribalism and terrorism. He thinks anyone properly schooled in Qur'anic teachings won't touch ritual murders or other nasty crimes, and giving incentives to institutions doing moral education right would push more people toward virtuous behavior.
