Security tightened in Kigezi ahead of Bobi Wine's visit

Authorities have deployed joint security personnel across Uganda's Kigezi Sub-region in preparation for National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu's campaign appearances. Police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed that officers from multiple agencies, including counter-terrorism units, will monitor events to prevent electoral violence and maintain public order during the opposition leader's visit.

Kyagulanyi will begin his regional tour today in Rukiga District before traveling to Kabale for afternoon gatherings. His schedule continues on Tuesday with stops in Rubanda, Kisoro, Kanungu and Rukungiri districts. Maate instructed campaign organizers and attendees to comply with approved schedules and security protocols, warning that confrontational behavior toward law enforcement would face consequences.
