Director Azrin Borhan reported that inspections of 50,839 vehicles since October 14 revealed 1,926 operators lacked required licenses for goods transport or public service work, while 1,745 drove without any authorization and 1,867 operated unregistered vehicles.
The crackdown documented 679 uninsured drivers, 747 overloading violations and 20 instances where cargo exceeded weight limits by more than half. Officers yesterday impounded a flatbed truck hauling steel coils after determining its operator held neither goods driving nor competency certificates, prompting prosecution under Land Public Transport Act provisions that permit vehicle forfeiture.
