Senator Lawan tells minister to promote federal image

Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan slammed Information Minister Mohammed Idris for making politics out of security issues instead of promoting Nigeria. This happened after Borno Governor Zulum warned about losing ground to Boko Haram fighters. The Governor pointed at empty military posts, showing things went wrong. The Minister fired back, claiming the government remains serious about fighting terrorism everywhere. He said security teams work hard controlling problems in Borno.

The Senator told Idris to learn from past ministers who focused on making the government look good. He expressed shock that Idris chose to play politics with Borno security troubles. Lawan called the Minister's comments about Governor Zulum disrespectful. He reminded everyone that Zulum sees firsthand what happens locally, but Idris sits far away in Abuja. The Governor even recently gave vehicles, motorcycles, and houses to security forces.

Lawan challenged the Minister to visit Maiduguri before talking more. He noted that Idris never once felt sorry for the Borno people after the attacks. President Tinubu himself praised Zulum's work resettling people displaced from their homes. The Senator urged the Minister to check the facts before speaking again. He promised continued support for the federal government but warned that statements need careful thought.
