Senator Sengezo Tshabangu has successfully overturned his expulsion from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party. The High Court Judge President, Justice Mary Dube, ruled that the disciplinary committee's decision was unlawful because the committee members' terms had expired.
Tshabangu challenged his February 12, 2025 expulsion, arguing that the disciplinary committee lacked legal authority to act after their official terms ended on May 27, 2024. The court agreed with his argument, invalidating the committee's decision.
The Ncube-led CCC faction strongly disagreed with the ruling. Spokesperson Willias Madzimure announced they would appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. He claimed the judgment was fundamentally flawed and would damage the country's reputation.
Madzimure stated the party believes it has a compelling legal case. The faction remains committed to challenging the court's ruling through every available legal mechanism.
