Uganda Golf Club in Kitante is about to host the 10th Seniors Golf Open, and defending champs John Katto and Jennifer Opio are coming back to defend their titles. They'll be going up against a stacked field with veterans like Fred Kasumba, Abel Luka, Sam Zaramba, Patrick Kagoro, Arthur Gakwandi, and Charles Katarikawe all ready to compete. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority dropped 15 million shillings to sponsor the event, which happens during International Aviation Week.
The tournament runs age brackets from 55 all the way up to 80-plus for the guys, while the women's divisions start at 55. Winners get crowned after playing 36 holes, and there are extra prizes for different groups when everything wraps up. UCAA Acting Director General Olive Lumonya mentioned that golfers and aviators have been tight for years, and the authority is sending its own golf squad to play in the side events.
