Shadows rocks US game charts, Ubisoft big comeback

Ubisoft's latest game, Assassin's Creed Shadows, has dominated video game sales across the United States since its March 20 release. Market research firm Circana reported that the game topped weekly sales charts for three consecutive weeks. Industry analyst Mat Piscatella confirmed that the game ranks second among 2025 video game sales, trailing only Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds.

The game quickly gained massive player engagement, reaching 2 million players just two days after launch and expanding to 3 million players within a week. These numbers represent critical momentum for Ubisoft, which experienced significant challenges during 2024 with commercial disappointments like Star Wars: Outlaws and Skull & Bones.

Ubisoft recently restructured its operations, creating a new subsidiary with Tencent holding a minority partnership. The company's major franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, moved under this new organizational framework. Potential workforce adjustments remain uncertain as the company navigates its transformed business landscape.
