Shamsul Alam, former Islamic Foundation chief, dies in Dhaka at age 82

A. Z. M. Shamsul Alam died Friday during medical treatment at a private hospital located within the capital city. The deceased held the position of Director General at Islamic Foundation during two separate periods spanning 1979 through 1982 and again from 2003 through 2005. Religious authorities conducted funeral prayers at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque following the completion of Zuhr prayers earlier today. Alam gained recognition as a respected Islamic scholar and participated as one of the founding members of Al-Arafah Islami Bank. The Islamic Foundation community responded with deep grief and shock upon learning of his death.

Current Director General A. Salam Khan publicly voiced his sorrow regarding the loss of his predecessor. Foundation officials offered prayers seeking eternal rest for the departed individual while extending heartfelt condolences to surviving family members. The organization acknowledged Alam's significant contributions to Islamic scholarship and banking sector development throughout his career.
