Shanto calls for more four-day matches to keep Test rhythm

Bangladesh Test skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto urged his players to participate in extended four-day competitions during the lengthy interval before facing Pakistan in March, hoping sustained match activity will preserve competitive sharpness following a series sweep against Ireland. The captain emphasized that maintaining playing rhythm through domestic tournaments would help the squad continue their recent success, though scheduling conflicts with the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League may complicate those plans.

Shanto requested that senior cricketers mentor younger prospects to strengthen first-class standards, noting improvements in domestic competition while acknowledging significant development remains necessary. The National Cricket League continues with Test squad members already competing, while officials plan to stage the franchise-based Bangladesh Cricket League despite an unconfirmed calendar.

The skipper stressed that adequate training infrastructure during the break would prove valuable, expressing hope for potential exhibition matches or organized domestic fixtures before the Pakistan series arrives.
