Shanto calls for unity and focused prep ahead of Pakistan test

Bangladesh Test skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto stressed the importance of cohesion and focused training after completing their match against Ireland at Mirpur's Shere Bangla Stadium, with attention turning to an upcoming Pakistan assignment. The captain told journalists that individual titles hold less significance than team objectives while acknowledging his return to the leadership position following board deliberations about vice-captaincy arrangements.

Shanto identified extended gaps between red-ball fixtures as a major obstacle for the Tigers' preparation. The skipper advocated for meaningful practice routines and improved player dialogue to address technical weaknesses during the interval before Pakistan arrives. He requested that the cricket board provide adequate training infrastructure and competitive opportunities, such as four-day matches against overseas opposition or domestic tournaments.

The Bangladesh leader expressed hope that potential First-Class cricket during the break would help squad members maintain match readiness ahead of the challenging series.
