Shefali Shah finds power in pain, a cue from Kill Bill pushes

Actress Shefali Shah talked about how the short film Juice came together during IFP 15, and she dropped some behind-the-scenes info that's pretty wild. Director Neeraj Ghaywan had her listen to that intense Kill Bill soundtrack where Uma Thurman is trapped in a coffin trying to punch her way out, and that audio completely changed how she approached the final scene. The film deals with generations of women stuck in these suppressed housewife roles, and Shah said it's one of the most powerful things she's worked on.

Shah also got real about her Delhi Crime character Vartika, saying the role is basically the closest thing to her actual personality. She pointed out how absurd it would've seemed years ago for a mid-40s woman who isn't Hollywood beautiful to headline a major show, but the series helped break those stereotypes. The third season just dropped and follows DCP Vartika Chaturvedi working on a human trafficking case.
